A long-established firm which sharpens and services clipping machines has moved into new premises in Gillingham.

Sean Barrington Clipper Services now operates from Unit 13 at the town’s Old Market Centre following a deal negotiated by property consultancy Myddelton & Major.

Quoting rent for the 1,258 sq ft (116.89 sq m) premises was £9,500 per annum and Mr Barrington has signed a six-year lease.

Myddelton & Major surveyor Gary Mead said: ‘Sean has been sharpening clipper blades for horses, sheep, cattle and dogs since 1994 and is a popular figure.

‘He not only sharpens clippers, but also services clipping machines and has a thriving retail side to his business.

‘It was good to help facilitate his growth into this unit, which is part of a modern development of industrial/warehouse units accessed off Station Road on the edge of Gillingham town centre and adjoining the railway station.

‘Other tenants at the Old Market Centre include Howden Joinery, Plumbase, Mole Valley and Valecraft.’

Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2019 for the eighth year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
