
On Saturday 31 July, Gillingham Town Council held a Covid-19 Community Volunteer Thank You event, hosted by the Mayor of Gillingham, Councillor Paul Harris, QGM.
The High Sheriff of Dorset, Michael Dooley, was a guest.
The mayor gave thanks to the 130 volunteers for their superb support to the community in a time of need and also thanked town councillors and staff who had set up and managed the community response to the pandemic.
The High Sheriff of Dorset, Michael Dooley, who is appointed by Her Majesty the Queen, said: “I am humbled by what the Gillingham volunteers have done – they are unsung heroes.”
He added: “Gillingham has a wonderful community spirit.”
