covid vaccine volunteers GillinghamMore than 20 percent of all adults registered at Gillingham Medical Practice have now had their first vaccinations against Covid-19, the latest figures show.

The news that 2,559 residents from the town have been vaccinated came as GPs urged anyone aged 70 or over who has not yet been contacted about getting a jab to get in touch with them.

‘We have a few patients that we have been unable to contact, so if you are aged 70 and over and have not heard from us, please can you contact us so we can get you booked in,’ Gillingham Medical Practice said.

In the meantime they are now planning to offer appointments to those patients aged 65 and over in the next few days. ‘We will contact you when it is your turn so please do not contact the surgery if you are a patient in this category,’ the surgery said.

The figures also show that some 99 percent of local people aged 80 or more have now had their vaccination, been offered it or are booked in for the coming weekend or a home visit this week.

‘Some have declined, and there are a couple of people we just can’t get hold of, despite phoning and sending letters hence why not 100 percent,’ said the surgery.
