The old supermarket site at Bell Street in Shaftesbury is to become a Morrisons Daily store.
The site’s owners Elite Garages say they have signed a franchise arrangement with the national supermarket chain.
‘We will be running the store ourselves as a “Morrisons Daily” which will provide Morrisons products along with a range of local products,’ said a spokesperson for Elite Garages.
The new store – once a Budgens outlet – will stock Morrisons products, alongside a range of local products.
‘Morrisons has a great range of products, and we love the fact it produces a large proportion of its own products in Britain. Morrisons makes over half of the fresh food it sells and has sites across the UK to produce its own meat, seafood, bakery items and more.,’ said the spokesperson.
‘The Morrisons Daily Shaftesbury store will open this winter, offering a vast range of products, including vegan, free-from and food-to-go offerings.’
The new store will form part of the multi-use building which will also house the Elite Garages workshop and another retail unit which is currently available, with letting being handled by Wooley and Wallis.
Elite Garages say they are hoping the new business will provide up to 30 new jobs.
‘We are keen to promote our “Recruitment Open Days” on Friday 5 November (10am-8pm) and Saturday 6 November (10am-6pm), where we will be discussing the vacancies available, answering any questions, chatting about the roles,’ said the spokesperson.
The recruitment open days will be held upstairs in the Shaftesbury Arts Centre across the road.
