The new Morrisons Daily store in Bell Street, Shaftesbury, is holding a ‘Welcome Day’ from 11am-3pm on Thursday 27 Jan.
At 11am, the good cause receiving the store’s £1,000 gift will be announced by Shaftesbury Mayor Andrew Hollingshead, Virginia Edwyn-Jones from the Chamber of Commerce and David Taylor from the Tourist Information Centre. Fourteen charities were shortlisted when Shaftesbury residents were asked to nominate local charities and good causes. Customers can still vote in store until today, 26th January, for who they think deserves the £1,000.
Various local suppliers will be in attendance at the event, giving people the opportunity to taste some local products. They will be able to sample Gritchie Beer, Olives Et Al, Jeroboams Wine, The Real Cure Meats, Lilley’s Cider, Moores Biscuits, Mounters13 Gin and Honeybuns gluten-free cakes.
There will also be free Elite Garages goodie bags and balloons.
Customers can enter the local hamper giveaway, which includes lots of local products for someone to win.
And the new store owners are offering a free bacon or sausage sandwich with the purchase of a large Costa drink.
‘It looks to be a great day and we’re excited to get welcome some of our local suppliers into the store so that customers can learn a bit more about the local products on offer!’ said Kelsie Whittemore from the family firm who run the new store, which opened earlier this month.
‘We will also be opening our MOT and vehicle repair centre next door at the start of February 2022. This will be offering MOTs, tyres, servicing, diagnostics, air con, EV servicing, clutches, brakes and so on.’
