We have decided to end the print version of Gillingham & Shaftesbury News in order to concentrate solely on our online version, meaning that the August one was the last paper edition.
We know that many of our readers will be disappointed at this news as we have received so many messages of support; and we are ourselves proud to have produced the only genuine newspaper in this area over the past two-and-a-half years.
However, we are committed to the coverage of local news in this area – something we know that you the readers feel very strongly about – and this change will ensure that we continue this coverage now and into the future. It’s a move which reflects the major changes that are sweeping the media industry.
Over the coming weeks we shall be unveiling some new features on our website as well as offering some attractive new packages to our advertisers.
Please do keep an eye on the website at www.gillingham-news.co.uk and also follow us on Twitter and Facebook for latest news and events.
Finally, we want to say a big thank you to all the support we’ve had over the last two-and-a-half years and in particular from our fantastic and loyal advertisers.
We look forward to working with you again in the future as we continue our work online.
Best wishes

What a shame! The Paper version of the Gillingham News was brilliant and an example of fine journalism that other local news outlets would do well to follow. I think lots of local people will really miss it. We will of course carry on reading the online version for top quality news coverage.
In these troubled times having an independent voice to turn to for informed comment and analysis has never been more important. Good luck.
