concert AutumnAn ‘Autumn Spectacular’ charity concert is being held at St Mary’s Church, Gillingham, on Saturday 22 October.

The concert, which starts at 3pm, is being performed by the Top Brass & Wind Concert Band along with vocalist Arabella Heaton.

‘Jackie Adams is in charge of her band, the ‘Top Brass & wind Concert Band’, and as always has given much thought to selecting a variety of music to suit everyone,’ says one of the organizers Anne Kings.

‘And of course we are lucky to have the added attraction of Arabella Heaton, whose voice can lift the church roof off – people who have heard her singing ‘Barcelona’ at our previous concerts will know what I mean.’

Proceeds will be in aid of Dementia-Friendly Gillingham and Weldmar Hospicecare.

‘So both charities where the money stays local,’ says Anne. ‘We don’t charge for entry, mainly because we feel that no one should pay to enjoy beautiful music in our lovely St Mary’s Church, but we do depend upon people giving generous donations.

‘The raffle is a fabulous one, and we have prizes of high value which have been donated by local businesses, Newglaze Windows, Allum & Sidaway Jewellers, Neal’s Yard, plus others.

‘And just to make the afternoon really special Waitrose have generously donated wine which you can enjoy a glass of during the interval, or fruit juice if you are driving.’
