Taylor Wimpey library
Gillingham residents were invited to the outdoor library’s official opening picnic on August 3.

Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties has announced the installation of a brand-new outdoor library at its Gillingham Lakes development.

The unveiling took place on Saturday August 3, as families and neighbours came together to enjoy a summer picnic and celebrate the official opening of the new outdoor library.

Celebrating literacy in the local community, the new library will aim to encourage a love for reading within the new community, says the developer, and will provide residents with access to a wide selection of adult and children’s books on a bring and borrow basis.

Roz Wells, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, said: ‘We’re extremely excited to introduce our brand-new outdoor library to our Gillingham Lakes development, creating an area where residents can come together to share their favourite novels.

‘By providing access to books for both adults and children, we hope to foster a sense of community and inspire a lifelong love for reading.’

The outdoor library will be accessible to all residents and visitors, with books available for borrowing or donation.

Residents are being encouraged to take a book, enjoy it at their leisure, and return it for others to enjoy. Additionally, residents are welcome to contribute to the library by donating books they have finished reading, thus ensuring a constant rotation of fresh reading material.
