Dorset Council has issued an order closing several rights of way in the centre of Gillingham during the ongoing roadworks.

The order came into force on 12 February and will continue for at least 21 days and may then be extended.

DORSET COUNCIL has issued an Order under Section 14 [2] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along footpath N64/46, N64/50 and N64/84 indicated by the red line on the map below and between points 1,2 & 3 an overall distance of approximately 1040 metres. The Order is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on 12th February 2020 for a period of 21 days. However it is anticipated that the closure will be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State, whilst construction works are taking place.

This Order will be required to accommodate construction activities within the area and to ensure safely
