An 18-year-old man died in a collision on the A303 on Saturday 9 November.

At approximately 5.15pm, officers were called to the A303 at the junction with the A350, known locally as Furze Hedge, following a report of a two vehicle collision.

A Volkswagen Golf, which was travelling westbound along the A303, collided with a DAF articulated Heavy Goods Vehicle, which was travelling in the opposite direction.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen – an 18-year-old man from Somerset, sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene. The driver of the HGV was not injured.

The road was closed for five-and-a-half hours while officers from the Collision Investigation Unit carried out an investigation of the scene, and both vehicles were recovered. The road reopened at 11.45pm.

We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit can be contacted on 01380 861049. Alternatively, call 101 and quote log number 316 of Saturday November 9.
