Gillingham Town Council has issued a warning about the risks to the public posed by large cracks caused by the unusually dry weather.

Councillor Barry Von Clemens told the town’s general purposes committee on Monday 6 August: ‘The cracks are becoming larger and larger. We have requested that warning signs are posted on all public open spaces warning people that these are sizeable and very dangerous cracks.’

He also said that the dry weather had also caused some benches and fencing to become loose.
