After just over a month in which it was closed, the Post Office branch in the High Street, Gillingham, opened its doors for business again on Thursday 18 July under the management of a temporary Postmaster.

A Post Office spokesperson, said: ‘We are pleased to announce that High Street Gillingham Post Office re-opened yesterday with a temporary Postmaster at the existing premises. This has restored Post Office service to this area.’

The branch was suddenly closed on 14 June as the Post Office investigate what are believed to be audit issues.

The re-opening follows an intervention by North Dorset MP Simon Hoare who met a senior Post Office official and ‘impressed upon’ him the need for the branch to resume business as soon as possible.
