Officers from Dorset Police are appealing for the owner of a dog to come forward after a man was bitten in Shaftesbury.

At around 6.45am on Friday 24 April 2020 the victim – a man aged in his 50s – was walking down Breach Lane when a dog, which was off its lead, approached the man in an aggressive manner before biting him on the leg. The dog’s owner apologised and also stayed with the victim a while to check he was all right, but the victim did not think to take her details at the time.

The victim then attended hospital to have the wound dressed.

The woman is described as white, aged between 50 and 60 years old, around five feet six inches tall, of medium build and with short greyish hair. The dog is described as possibly a mixed breed small black dog with some white patches.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: ‘I appreciate this took place over a week ago, but I am hoping someone may recognise the owner of the dog from the description given.

‘If you were the woman walking the dog on that day, or have any information as to her identity, please get in touch so we can take an account and establish the full circumstances of what happened.’
