An old-style phone box now used to house a defibrillator near Stourhead has been destroyed in an accident.

A vehicle collided with the red box and shattered it, as the dramatic photo above taken by Thomas Panton shows.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: ‘At around 6.30pm last Wednesday (07/07) we were called to a single-vehicle road traffic collision in Bells Lane, Stourton, where a car had collided with a telephone box.

‘Nobody was injured and no arrests were made.

‘Due to the fact that the telephone box contained a defibrillator, officers waited at the scene for the electricity company to ensure it was safe.’
