Gillingham Town Reserves – Dorset Premier League

The latter stages of January saw the Reserves play Hamworthy Utd and Cranborne and come away with great 5-1 and 9-1 victories respectively. These were followed in February by another game against Hamworthy Utd and another victory, albeit only by a 1-0 scoreline this time. The Reserves then hosted Merley Cobham Sports in the semi-finals of the Dorset Premier League Cup and this exciting game saw the Reserves trailing 1-0 when they were awarded an 85th minute penalty. Although the penalty was saved the game went into extra time after an 89th minute equalising goal by Ollie Blackmore. The winning goal was scored by Darren Isaac in extra time to see the Reserves progress through to the final, a great feat in their first season in this League.

On Saturday 18 February the Reserves made the short journey to take on Blandford United coming away with a 3-2 victory, although they left it late again as they were losing 2-1 with just 6 minutes left. Then a goal by Ryan Schouten and a second by Elliot Bevis in the last minute saw them leave with all three points and rise to 7th place in the table.

The last game of the month was on Saturday 25 February when the Reserves hosted North Dorset rivals Sherborne Town Reserves. Despite a bad start going a goal down and Sherborne missing a penalty, they got a victory with goals by Jack Baker and Elliot Bevis just before half time.

A great month for the Reserves with a League Cup semi final victory, but also three league wins which sees them finishing in 7th place in the table.

Player of The Month went to goalkeeper Joshua Lucas.
