Mere CC took on local rivals Kilmington at Stourhead on the first Sunday in May. Set a massive 288 from 40 overs, two of Mere’s youngsters William Batty Smith and George Cassidy set an opening stand record for Mere of 184, George going for 86, Will pushing on to score a record 137. A quick 32 by M Cassidy left Mere needing 5 from the final over. Young Charlie Cassidy (13) came out to hit the winning runs with 1 ball to spare. Mere’s highest 40 over run chase, and highest 1st wicket partnership records broken in one match! Kilmington 288-7 Mere 289-7

A T20 draw against Montague Arms followed, both teams scoring 145 to continue the exciting run. Sun 14th saw defeat to Horningsham in a rain affected game with Horningsham chasing down Mere’s 208-5 with 7 overs remaining 213-3.

The following week saw another amazing win v Sports Shed. Mere batted first and set 225 ( George Cassidy 101) L Harwood (62 no). Sports Shed’s reply started well but 3 wickets by Mere veteran Bryan Yeo halted the charge. Sports Shed recovered and only needed 50 from the final 10 overs with 4 wickets remaining.

An amazing over from Mere’s young female star Robyn Whitmore (14) as she took Sports Shed’s last 3 wickets with a hatrick maiden to win the match in the 32nd over. Mere 225-5 Sports Shed 196 all out.
