Photography competition GillinghamA competition designed to showcase Gillingham and other towns in North Dorset is now open.

Called the North Dorset Photography Competition 2025, its organisers want local residents to submit photos about the towns in which they live.

In the case of this town, organisers have designed a poster urging people: ‘Show us Gillingham through your lens.’

In each town a panel will judge local photographs and the winning entries will feature in a local exhibition. The residents in those towns will then be able to pick their favourites and the successful photographs  from that public vote will go on show in a ‘winner of the winners’ exhibition at the Sturminster Exchange.

Photo submissions can be made from 14 February until 28 March. There will be three categories: under 18, amateur and professionals.

Gillingham councillor and former mayor Barry von Clemens, who formed the North Dorset Tourism group which is behind the competition, said: ‘We’re really looking forward to seeing the photos showing the best of Gillingham through the eyes of its community.’

More details about the contest can be found at northdorsetphoto.co.uk.
