drumhead Fovant Badges
The Fovant Badges are a set of regimental badges cut into a chalk hill near Fovant between Salisbury and Shaftesbury.

The Fovant Badges Drumhead Service will be held on 7th July 2024 at East Farm, Fovant,
Wiltshire SP3 5JD at 3pm.

Each year, since 1961, the Fovant Badges Society has held a Drumhead Service of
Remembrance at East Farm Fovant courtesy of the landowner Mr Ed Williams. The service
had to pause during the Covid-19 pandemic, however it resumed with great success last year
and always takes place on the first Sunday in July, this being the closest to the 1st of July, the
first day of the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

It is a very moving service being attended by many standard bearers from The Royal British
Legion. Wiltshire Army Cadet Corps provides invaluable help to the organisers and we are
grateful for the support of St John Ambulance on the day.

This year our guest of honour speaking at the service will be Lt. Gen. Sir Nick Pope KCB CBE
and the service will be conducted by Reverend Colin Fox. Representatives from the armed
services and the Australian Army attend as well as representatives of County and Town
Councils.

The Shaftesbury Town Band has provided the musical accompaniment to the service for many
years, for which we are hugely appreciative. Afterwards, and weather permitting, afternoon
tea is provided in the garden of East Farm and the Shaftesbury Town Band continue to
entertain our guests there.

All welcome.

The Drumhead Service will start at 3pm, you are requested to be seated by
2.45pm.
