Gillingham has submitted a neighbourhood plan to North Dorset District Council.

The plan sets out a wide range of planning policies including policies that the community wishes to be used to protect and enhance the character of Gillingham. It has been submitted to North Dorset District Council to arrange for an independent examiner to assess it.

The district council is required to publicly consult on the plan. The plan, supporting documents, and response forms can be accessed online from dorsetforyou.com.

You can also view the plan at Gillingham library, Chantry Fields, and the District Council offices at Nordon, Salisbury Road, Blandford Forum during normal opening hours.

All comments must be received by 5pm on Thursday 15 February 2018. These will then be sent to the examiner along with the plan. Depending on the examiner’s report, a referendum will be held for Gillingham residents to finally decide whether the plan should be approved.

Councillor Graham Carr-Jones, Leader of North Dorset District Council, said: ‘Neighbourhood plans are a great way for a community to shape their area. I would encourage people with an interest in the future of Gillingham to have their say on the submitted plan.’

Residents of North Dorset can also have their say on North Dorset’s Local Plan Review up until 22 January. Find out more here.
