Gillingham’s town council is working with local voluntary groups to help people, who are in self-isolation in the town.
The announcement came as the town council said its offices would be closed to visitors, but still remain open for business by telephone, social media and email.
In a statement it said: ‘Gillingham Town Council is currently reviewing its business operations to help prevent the further spread of the Covid-19 virus and to protect staff and members of the public.
‘The Town Hall will be closed for personal callers, but contact can be made by telephone, the use of email and in writing. There will be regular updates on the Town Council’s web site and Facebook page.
The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are working with voluntary organisation to help those who are in isolation and more information will follow.’
