The new mayor of Gillingham, Councillor Su Hunt, was  sworn in at the annual meeting of the Gillingham Town Council held on Tuesday 29 may.

Councillor Hunt, who took over from Councillor Belinda Ridout, said she was delighted to be made mayor of what she described as ‘this special town’.

She said one of her priorities for the coming year was to make sure that local residents had continued access to the Citizens Advice Bureau in the town.

Councillor Barry Von Clemens was sworn in as deputy mayor.
