Engineers worked through the night to restore water supplies to homes in Gillingham and Mere after a problem with the network on Thursday night.
Wessex Water blamed an ‘issue in our supply network’ which affected more than a thousand homes in the two towns, with some consumers losing water altogether and others having low pressure.
Normal service was restored in the early hours of Friday morning.
A Wessex Water spokeswoman told Gillingham News: ‘More than 1,000 properties in the Gillingham and Mere area may have had no water or low pressure yesterday evening due to an issue in our supply network. Engineers worked overnight to resolve the problem and supply was returned just after midnight.’
‘Apologies to any customers affected and thank you for your patience while we carried out our work.’
