Flower and Music Festival, Mere
The Flower and Music Festival in St Michael’s Church, Mere, celebrates the community of Mere with a mix of beautiful floral arrangements and music. The first flower festival to be held in the town for many years, it’s over three days, June 9 – 11.
About 40 different small and large businesses, clubs, sports groups and charities, will decorate the church with their floral displays and these can be seen from 10am-4pm on Friday and Saturday and from noon-4pm on Sunday.
Music will be heard during much of this time, the church organist playing both sacred and secular music. On Friday evening, children from Mere and Gillingham primary schools will perform from 7pm. Tickets are £5 and children are free.
On Saturday, the Farrant Singers, a long-established chamber choir from Salisbury will perform music according to the theme, All the Queen’s Men, a fictional account of the travels of Elizabeth I through the shires. The performance begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £10. Tickets can be bought at the door.
On Sunday, the Bishop of Salisbury will take the 10.30am service, and the festival will close with Songs of Praise at 4.30pm.
