Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties says it is proud to have once again supported the Gillingham community, donating £1,000 as the town carnival’s First Aid Sponsor for the second year running.
The Gillingham Carnival, the town’s largest annual event, began on September 28th and concluded on Saturday October 4th with the Grand Illuminated Procession. Visitors enjoyed a week of festivities, including the Children’s Carnival Procession, Band Parade, Steam Cavalcade and Majorette Parade.
The event is organised by volunteers and funded through community fundraising and business sponsorships. Each year, it costs around £10,000 to run.
Taylor Wimpey’s sponsorship funded the event’s first aid provision, supporting the safety of all attendees and demonstrating, it says, the company’s ongoing commitment to the local community around its Gillingham Lakes development.
Mary Bailey, chair of the Gillingham Carnival Committee, said: ‘Despite the windy and wet weather from Storm Amy, Carnival Day went ahead and the crowds enjoyed a fantastic afternoon and evening. The First Aid Team is essential to the safe running of the event, and we are very grateful to Taylor Wimpey for covering this vital cost.’
Roz Wells, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties, added: ‘We are delighted to support the Gillingham community once again. The Carnival is a wonderful celebration of West Country identity and tradition, and this sponsorship ensures everyone can enjoy it safely.”
