Gillingham councillor Barry Von Clemens has called on businesses in the area to sign up to the Time to Change employer pledge on mental health issues.

Speaking on World Mental Health day on Tuesday 10 October, Councillor Von Clemens said: ‘This year the day is especially focussing on mental health in the workplace.

‘One in four of us will experience a mental health problem and nine in ten say they have faced negative treatment from others as a result. We want everyone with a mental health problem to be free of fear and feel supported.’

Councillor Von Clemens said he was asking ‘all our local businesses to take a few minutes out of their busy days to think about how these issues may effect them and their work force’.

Businesses can sign up to the pledge here.

World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.
