A man has been charged in connection with an alleged assault in Gillingham.

It was reported that a local man aged in his 40s was assaulted while walking his dog in the area of Chantry Fields to the rear of the town’s Waitrose store at around 5.45pm on Tuesday 30 May 2017.

He was reportedly punched in the face by another man, causing a laceration to his bottom lip.

A 43-year-old man from Shaftesbury has been charged with assault and is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Monday 30 October 2017.
