In a summary of his views on the climate emergency Simon Hoare, North Dorset’s Conservative MP until the dissolution of Parliament, said the ‘main thrust’ of his answers on combatting the climate emergency are:
• [promoting] energy efficient building regulations
• use of economic instruments to nudge behaviours
• positioning 2050 as an end date not a target, and
• supporting initiatives to make our sophisticated lives more sustainable and less impactful.
These are the gist of the views he said he will be putting forward in his answers to questions on the climate emergency at the hustings meeting at Shaftesbury town hall organised by the Planet Shaftesbury and Extinction Rebellion Shaftesbury environmental lobby groups..
He said he was unable to give fuller answers without knowing what questions he would be asked at the gathering on 21 November.
