Wessex Water has apologized after its staff carried out repair work late into the evening on a street in Gillingham.

Work started on the job at Weatherbury Road in Peacemarsh in the early evening of Tuesday June 13 and and continued for several hours.

‘This was a leak repair job and the timing of the work was purely down to scheduling. We cover a large area and it is sometimes necessary to extend the working day,’ explained a spokesman for Wessex Water.

‘On this occasion our team started work in the early evening and had completed repairs by 10pm. We’re sorry for any disturbance caused.’
